Dear Guests,



You have reached the Book Addict's Online Book Group and Forum.  We have a Book Group, a Writing Group and a bunch of other fun stuff!  We are a friendly bunch of Book Addicts who enjoy reading and talking about books.



Most of our content is hidden from guests so you will have to join our forum if you wish to see it.



So if you are interested in books and writing, and hanging out with a bunch of fun, friendly people, we look forward to seeing you on the forum!



Registration approval is in place, so please check your inbox and junk mail for your activation email.  We do not allow spam on these boards so please read the rules very carefully.

Here is some information about our site which you may want to read before joining us.



About Us

First and foremost we are an Online Book Group.  We have been running as a Book Group since 2005 and we run regular hosted and unhosted book discussions.



Our Book Group is divided into the Book Addicts Original and the Paranormal Social Club which caters for the needs of our members.  We run regular, mini and ongoing Reading Challenges such as the 52 books in 52 weeks challenge which we have been having fun with since 2006; and also smaller member initiated book discussions via our Book Buddy, an Adopt an Author feature, which allows members to "adopt" and update their favourite author's information and various other book related activities.

For our members, a handy list of Book Group links can be found on the left sidebar.  These links are only visible to members and act as shortcuts to various sections of the site.



What else we do

However, we also listen to our members and cater for their other non-book related interests.  



Writing Group

We offer membership to all our writers and budding writers via our SotE writing group, where you can join in our writing contests, writing prompts, exercises and request feedback or critique on any of your writing.



Crafty Book Addicts

For our artistic and crafty members, you will find a comfortable niche to chat about your arts and crafts,show us what you can do and get help or feedback.



The Green Room

If movies, TV or music is your bag, then we do that too!  Our Green Room boards are where you can find all discussions about movies, TV, music, popular culture, favourite actors etc.



Off Topic Lounge

After all that activity, you probably want to relax and shoot the breeze in our off-topic lounge or indulge in some trivial pursuits.



The Rules

Nobody's favourite topic but site rules are very important and we encourage all members to read the rules of the site before posting.  You can  find them in the Helpdesk at the top of the site.    We do have what is referred to as a "no-snark" rule but that is open to interpretation, so let us clarify.  We do not allow personal attacks, flaming, threats or comments about the personal life of authors or anything that we may be held legally responsible for or sued. This includes comments about, but is not limited to, the sexual life of an individual, death threats etc.  We do not stop anyone from voicing their opinion, it you hated a book you can say so, if you loved it you can say so but personal attacks are not allowed.  In addition to this, we also have a number of authors who visit the site regularly and participate in our book discussions and we want to encourage more authors to join us.  This would not be possible if we were to allow the above behaviour on our site.  We hope you understand our reasons.
